"Over the top cutting parody of small towns." Recommended by SWCPL Patron John LangmaidPatricia Harman
"I listened to this series of books on the hoopla app. The setting is Appalachia during the 1930's. Patience Murphy is a midwife to the mining town and surrounding area. She has a hard life and so do the women she helps. It is a journey into what life was like for those poor people who lived in the hills and how they coped with everyday life during the Great Depression.
