Paula D. Ashe is a native Ohioan who lives in Indiana with her wife, their son, and too many pets. Her supernatural novella Mater Nihil, was published by JWKFiction in the Four Ghosts anthology in 2013. Her award winning short fiction has been published in several anthologies. Most recently her work has appeared in the heavy metal horror collection, Axes of Evil II (2015), the third installment of the Horror World Press series, Eulogies III (2015), Trevor Kennedy’s Phantasmagoria Present’s Gruesome Grotesques Vol. 1 (2017) Burdizzo Books’ Visions from the Void (2018), and The Porcupine Boy and Other Anthological Oddities (2019) by MacabreInk. Her short stories “The Mother of All Monsters” and “Carry On, Carrion” were both recognized with honorable mentions in Ellen Datlow’s Best Horror of the Year Volumes 7 and 8. Her first short fiction collection, We Are Here to Hurt Each Other: Stories will be available from Nictitating Books later this year. Paula is one of seven contributing writers to 7 Magpies, the first horror film anthology written and directed by African American women. She is completing a PhD in American Studies from Purdue University.
